It’s no sweat to be an Eagle! Earn points for your House this Friday by wearing sweats. The House with the most students and staff participating will earn 50 points.

Congratulations to the 8th grade baseball team for winning their 6 consecutive game 10-1 over Shanahan yesterday. Greg C. threw the team’s 4th complete game in a row as they improved to 8-2 on the season. Great job Eagles!!!!

Shanahan Middle School will be hosting an open house on Wednesday, May 9th for any parent and/or student who will be transitioning to Shanahan next school year.  The open house will begin at 6 pm and the counselors and administrative team will be available for any questions until the 5th grade parent orientation begins at 7 pm.  We will also have WEB Leaders available to show you around the school.

In the mean time please go to the Olentangy Website to sign up for “The Scout”, which is the Shanahan Middle School list serve where you will receive daily email announcements, upcoming events, and all other important information coming out of SMS.  Also, in order to be more efficient and better prepared for you on May 9th, please email me any questions you have about the transition to SMS next year at: (josh_mcdaniels@olentangy.k12.oh.us).  I am sure if one of you have a question, many others do as well, so please email me as often as you’d like with your questions.  I will create a list of all of your questions and then have the answers to present to you during the open house.  I look forward to meeting all of you very soon!

Congratulations to the following students for making the finals of the Central Ohio Writing Contest: Saarthak G., Amanda C., Ally B., Leah T. and Maria C. Wish them luck for the awards ceremony scheduled for Tuesday, May 8th at Dublin Jerome High School at 7pm.

The boys lacrosse team played four games this past weekend.  They won the first game against Rocky River 9-6 and lost the second game 5-0.  The boys won the first game against Delaware 9-4 and lost the second game 5-3.  The boys lacrosse team will play at home this Thursday against Hilliard Memorial.

It is the time of the year when flip-flops become very popular footwear at school. We are seeing a number of broken flip-flops each week. If your student wears flip-flops to school, please have her/him keep an extra pair in the locker in case one breaks.

Olentangy Education Foundation (OEF) sponsors annual staff commendation program: Are you looking for a unique way to show your appreciation and acknowledge an Olentangy staff member who has contributed to making your child’s year special or successful? Olentangy Education Foundation (OEF) sponsors an annual district-wide staff commendation program to thank Olentangy staff members. Consider recognizing a staff member with a commendation this year. In addition, you may make a donation in the name of those staff members who have made a difference. Donations will be help fund OEF grants and scholarships awarded annually. Gifts of any amount are appreciated. All honorees and the superintendent will be notified of the commendation. Girls Lax had a big win last night over Shanahan, 14-8…come see them take on Liberty Wed. night at 6p…

The boys lacrosse team played a great game last night against Hilliard Heritage. The boys won 13-1. They will play at Shanahan on Monday and at Liberty on Thursday.

Attention CURRENT 6th and 7th graders! Are you interested in trying out for Cheerleading for next school year? There will be a MANDATORY parent meeting Tuesday, May 1 at 6:30 in the Hyatts cafeteria. The cheer clinic is scheduled for May 14th to May 17th with final tryouts being May 18th.

There will be an informational meeting on Monday April 30th at 5:30 pm in the LHS Commons. Please come to learn about schedules and plans for the upcoming fall season.
