2010 SUMMER PROJECTS, READINGS AND ASSIGNMENTS
A large number of our English and Advanced Placement courses require students to complete summer assignments. Please review your son or daughter’s schedule for the 2010-2011 school year to determine if their anticipated course work requires completion of a summer assignment. During the last days of the school year, teachers do their best to communicate the requirements for summer assignments directly to their 2010-11 students. In the event that your son or daughter was unable to obtain a copy prior to the end of the school year, assignments can be found on Orange High School’s Website. Click on the following link to be diverted directly to the Orange High School Summer Projects page. http://www.olentangy.k12.oh.us/buildings/oohs/summer2010.html
Hard copies of summer assignments are also maintained in the Student Services office located at Orange High School. Offices are open all summer and hours are 8:00-3:00. Most projects are due at the start of the 2010-2011 school year. Please be sure that your son or daughter allows themselves ample time to complete required summer work.

PLANNING FOR THE FUTURE
As a parent of a high school student, it is time to start planning for the future. College and work may seem like a long way away, but the next few years pass very quickly. Now is the time to start looking into career and college choices. Help your student check out careers. Encourage your student to ask adults about their career when traveling, or through work and volunteer experiences. Help them identify their interests and abilities. See if a shadowing experience is possible while there is more time in the summer. Begin planning for post-secondary options. Visit colleges this summer. Admission offices expect to have a lot of visitors during the summer months. If you are traveling, visit a school on your way. Visits can be scheduled through the college website on OCIS. Be sure to sign up to take a campus tour, listen to an admissions officer, and visit the college office of your potential major.
Log on to OCIS (Ohio Career Information System) to check out colleges and careers. OCIS is a valuable resource to obtain updated information on labor statistics, colleges, and career options. To access OCIS, users need the following information:
