SCHOLASTIC ART AND WRITING AWARD
Kudos to Deyshon H. for earning a Silver Key Award for his entry to the 2012 Central Ohio Regional Scholastic Art Awards Program. This is the second Silver Key Award for OOHS.

ICE HOCKEY
Congratulations to the Varsity Ice Hockey team for their win last night in the Olentangy Cup defeating the 10th ranked Liberty Patriots. There was an all around great effort by the whole team. This was the first time a Liberty team has ever been beaten by an Olentangy sister school.

PARENT PROGRAM TEAM PRESENTS – RAISING DRUG-FREE KIDS AND PREVENTING PRESCRIPTION DRUG ABUSE
Wednesday, February 8, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at Olentangy Orange High School
Join the Olentangy Parent Programs Team (PPT) and NBC4 for a very special forum tackling one of the biggest issues facing parents today: keeping our kids healthy and drug-free. Dependency prevention expert Douglas Wentz will share how parents can avoid some of the most common enabling behaviors and attitudes that may promote drug use among children. NBC4 anchor Mindy Drayer, former OSU quarterback Craig Krenzel and representatives from the Ohio Department of Alcohol and Drug Addition Services will share tips on preventing prescription drug abuse, including the best ways to store and dispose of prescription drugs. Representatives from several community resource groups will be on hand to help you address your family’s specific needs. PPT will also offer a raffle for items autographed by Craig Krenzel and provide prevention activities for children in the free child care area. FREE BABYSITTING WILL BE AVAILABLE!!

2011-2012 OLENTANGY LOCAL SCHOOLS COLLEGE PARENT MEETING
Would you like to know more about the unique educational options available to your high school student? The Olentangy High Schools’ Guidance Departments will be hosting an Educational Options meeting on Thursday, February 9th at 7:00 in the Orange High School auditorium. Course scheduling is under way and this meeting will provide a wealth of information about the many educational options that are available. Information about Marketing & Management, Mentorship I & II, Teacher Academy, Service Learning, the Delaware Area Career Center, Delaware County Air Force Junior ROTC, Advanced Placement courses, Dual-Enrollment and Post-Secondary Enrollment Options Program will be discussed.

PASSPORT CONTEST
Attention Seniors! It’s Career Passport contest time! Local businesses are sponsoring the Career Passport contest and one senior from Orange High School will receive a $250 check. Submit your passport to Mrs. Andrews by Wednesday, March 14 to be entered in the contest. See Mrs. Andrews or the poster in your English classroom for more details.

INTERACT CLUB MEETING
The next Interact Club Meeting is Thursday, February 9th at 7:00am OR 2:40pm in the OOHS Auditorium. Find out about new service opportunities and hear exciting information about our end of the year banquet. Plan to stay following the afternoon meeting to participate in our Valentine for Troops event where you can create Valentine cards for military personnel and earn additional service hours. Mark your calendars now to plan on attending the meeting and service opportunity on February 9th!

DECA COMPETITION RESULTS
Please congratulate all of our DECA members for their wonderful performance at our district competition! We brought home a total of 26 trophies and have at least 19 students heading to state competition in March! Congratulations to all and good luck at the state competition in March!

ATHLETES SIGN
Two athletes signed letters of intent today to play at the collegiate level. William M. signed to play football for Tiffin University and Brandon S. signed to play football at Ohio Dominican University!

NHS MEETING
The next meeting for all NHS members will be on Monday, Feb. 6 at 2:45 in Mrs. Whitney’s room. Anyone interested in becoming our student blood drive coordinator should plan on attending.

MATH CLUB
Math club members are reminded that the AMC competition will be held Tues, Feb 7th during 1st and 2nd period. Members should report to room 1211 at 7:10 on the 7th.
