OGT TESTING
Olentangy Orange High School will be administering the Ohio Graduation Test the week of March 8, 2010 to ALL Sophomores as well as Juniors and Seniors who still need to pass one or more sections. All students are required to pass all five portions of the Ohio Graduation Test (OGT) in order to graduate high school. Below is the testing schedule:
Monday, March 8 – Reading
Tuesday, March 9 – Math
Wednesday, March 10 – Writing
Thursday, March 11 – Science
Friday, March 12 – Social Studies
Sophomores should report to homebase by 7:20 am and upperclassmen should report to the library for testing. You must be on time.

WHEN DOES MY CHILD REPORT TO SCHOOL DURING OGT WEEK? During the week of March 8 through 12, the Ohio Graduation Tests (OGTs) will be given to all sophomores, as well as juniors and seniors who have not yet passed the tests. Because of the large number of students being tested, Olentangy High Schools will use a delayed-start testing procedure. Students who are taking the OGT are to report to school at the regular time for testing. Buses will run their regular schedule only. All students not required to take the OGT have two options. One option is that students can pursue academic support during the two and a half hour late start, meaning they can ride the buses and go to subject-specific study labs. A second option is that students not required to take the OGTs will be on a two and a half hour delay and can report to school at 9:40 a.m., but they must provide their own transportation to school. For students who do not have alternate transportation to come to school late, they must ride the regular morning bus and report to school at the regular time; they will then participate in a study lab from 7:20 to 9:20 a.m.

HELP IN PREPARING FOR OGTs
As the March testing date of the OGT rapidly approaches, we are making available to you an opportunity to take advantage of some special resources that could help you better prepare for the test. If you go to the following website: http://ogt.success-ode-state-oh-us.info/studentsOGT.htm and then click on the link “Practice for the Test”. This will take you to a new screen where there is a box on the right side of the screen above the button for “sign up for a new account”. We have already created an account name for you. It is . For example, Mr. Richards’ username would be poohsbrichards. Enter this and then click on the “sign up for a new account” button. It will then take you to a screen where you will create your password and enter your email address. We would suggest that you make your password your first name and your student ID and that you leave the e-mail field blank. Many of your students have already been utilizing these resources during their classes and already know how to log-in. Once you have activated your account, you now have the ability to take a variety of different practice tests that can help you prepare for the upcoming OGT. Each subject has a practice test for each sub-strand as well as practice tests for all of the strands. These test are comprised of actual questions from past versions of the test. Once you have finished each test, print off the results page and turn it in to your subject area teacher or assigned tutor so that you can go over areas of improvement. Hopefully this will allow you to feel more comfortable and confident as the OGT approaches. If there is anything I can do to assist you in preparing for the test, please don’t hesitate to contact Mr. Richards via e-mail, at Benjamin_richards@olentangy.k12.oh.us or via phone at 740-657-5102. The OGT bell schedule is attached.
