Mrs. Martin, the Assistant Superintendent, and your WEB Coordinators, invite you to a pizza luncheon today, June 3rd during your regularly scheduled lunch period. Please join us in the garden courtyard (weather permitting) for a celebration of your contributions to SMS and it’s WEB Program. Also, be sure to bring your cleaned out WEB Leader binders. See Mr. Hinds or Ms. Hurst with questions.

Also, all 7th Grade WEB Leaders who signed up for the T-shirt committee, we will meet today during your lunch period in Room 127E. Go directly to the cafeteria to get your lunch, and then report to Room 127E to discuss the T-shirt design for next year.

Baseball Camp: Olentangy High School is running a baseball camp June 14th – June 17th. Mr. Edmonds and the high school coaching staff would like to see everyone interested in playing baseball at Shanahan or Olentangy High School in the coming years at camp. Please see Mr. Edmonds in room 145E for registration forms.

There will be no Weight Room for 8th graders until Thursday, June 10th @ 9:30.

Library News: Just in case you hadn’t noticed – the end of the school year is next week. The library needs you to return all books as soon as possible. Grade cards will be held until either the materials are returned or they are paid for. Looking forward to seeing you all, and if you don’t want to come in please make use of the book drop in the math hallway.

EXTRA YEARBOOKS: There are extra yearbooks available for sale. If you forgot to order one earlier in the year you can still get one! They will be sold on a first come, first serve basis. The cost is $17.00 and checks should be made out to HR Imaging. Please bring a check or cash to the office to get yours ordered. All yearbooks will be distributed on the last day of school.

Cafeteria News: From now until the end of the year there will be no charges accepted in the cafeteria. Please make sure you have money on your account, you have cash or you have a packed lunch.

6th Grade Camp - We will return from camp at the designated location on Friday, June 4th. If parents are picking their child up, please report to the following locations by 2:00.
Team 601 – Arrowhead Parking Lot
Team 602 – Kroger parking lot (in front of OHS)
Team 603 – Bus Garage (behind Shanahan MS near the football field )
Students not being picked up will be sent home on the bus as normal. Parents stated their preference on the camp forms that were submitted.

The Olentangy High School Service Club (OHS) announces the second annual Treasure Hunt benefiting the Ryan William Owens Foundation. This great event will be held on Saturday July 31, 2010 from 9 a.m. to noon at OHS. Get a team together and join your friends for a fun-filled treasure hunt that will test your wit and allow you to compete for the ultimate treasure!! Attention 6th and 7th grade girls!

Starting next school year, Shanahan will have a gymnastics team. Central Ohio Gymnastics will represent this team. There are no try-outs; all girls are welcome. No previous experience necessary. The season is August – October. Practice will be twice a week and there are four meets scheduled. Practice will be at Central Ohio. This program will feed directly into the High School Gymnastics Team, who already practices at Central Ohio. This is a perfect opportunity to compete at your current level, while learning new gymnastic skills. Please contact Cari Morgan at morgancari@aol.com for more information.

IF YOU HAVE NOT PICKED UP YOUR ART WORK THIS YEAR, NOW IS THE TIME!
Please pick up your art work from the cafeteria during lunch. If you were awarded a ribbon at the district art show, make sure you pick up the ribbons from your art teacher.

CONGRATULATIONS SMS ON A JOB WELL DONE!
We have raised almost enough money to build the greenhouse! SMS has raised over $5,000. In order to reach our goal of $5,500, we will be “TAPING TEACHERS TO THE WALL” during lunch periods next week! You can be part of the action! Just buy a piece of tape, tape it to the teacher and to the wall to see if the teacher sticks. YOU CAN PURCHASE YOUR LENGTH OF TAPE FOR $1. All the money raised will go toward meeting our goal to build the greenhouse. Stay tuned for more details this week and next week. WE WILL BE ANNOUNCING THE LUCKY TEACHERS WHO ARE GOING TO “GET TAPED” SOON!

Also, if you would like to attend a cheerleading clinic with the Olentangy High School Cheeleaders, there will be one on May 5th and May 12th from 6-8pm at the high school. Stop by the office for more information.

Attention 6th graders: All medication for 6th grade camp must be turned into the nurses in the office by Friday, May 21st. Please refer to your camp packet about the specifics of turning these medications in.

Middle School Girls Tennis The middle school tennis club program is currently seeking girls who will be entering 7th and 8th grade for the 2010 fall season.~ If your daughter is interested in trying out for the team, please contact Mark Latham at mlatham1@columbus.rr.com There will be open sessions during the summer months (times and dates to be determined), conditioning will begin in August, with practices beginning Monday August 9th. Please include which middle school your child will be attending in the fall when responding. Once a potential list of girls has been generated, an email detailing the program will be distributed.

Sports physicals will be offered for high school and middle school students again this year for just $10. The physicals will be held on the following dates:
• Tuesday, May 18th 6pm-9pm at OLHS
• Wednesday, May 19th 6pm-9pm at OHS
• Wednesday, May 26th 6pm-9pm at OOHS
Students may attend any session.

Summer Volleyball Camps: Information is available in the office for any girls in grades 4-12 who may be interested in attending Volleyball Camp this summer. Registration and payment are due by June 11.
