As the end of the school year approaches, please remember to pay your school fees if you have not already done so!

The 7th grade girls softball team improved their record to 5-3 for the season with a win over Liberty on Friday. The Scouts had a strong night offensively with 17 hits and 10 RBI’s, and 4 stolen bases. Abby F., Kaylee Y. and Madison C. were a perfect 3 for 3 at bat and Sydney H. went 3 for 4. Pitching for the Scouts, Sydney W. struck out 5 batters in 3 innings and Ryan V. added another 5 strikeouts and no hits in the final 2 innings. The Scouts next game is Tuesday at Worthington.

The Berkshire/Orange/Shanahan Boys’ Tennis team is currently enjoying a successful season of tennis with an 8-2 record.

The 8th grade parents will be moving on and there are many openings in the PTO Board at Shanahan as well as a need for chairpersons for committees.  You can read more about the volunteer needs on the OSMS PTO website:  http://olentangypto.org/shanahan/volunteer-opportunities/

Through our fundraising efforts, Shanahan PTO has been able to provide field trip support, library books, equipment for physical education classes, funds to help with building the greenhouse, portable sound system, classroom enrichment materials, and COSI-on-Wheels, just to name a few.  We need volunteers to help with these fundraising efforts!  Please consider giving your time where you can!

Shanahan PTO is hosting a “Mexican Fiesta Staff Appreciation Luncheon” from 9am-2pm on Thursday, May 10th, 2012 in the team room.

Volunteers are needed to help decorate and set-up on Wednesday, May 9th, 2012 from 3-5pm.

Volunteers are needed to serve our staff on May 10th from during the luncheon from 9-2 or by providing food, desserts, drinks, and/or monetary donations. Please make checks out to “Shanahan PTO” and send to front office by Tuesday, May 8th, 2012. Please contact Mindi Schneider by Friday, May 4th to reserve your spot to decorate, serve staff during the luncheon, or sign–up to donate soup, food, deserts, and drinks. The 7th Grade boys baseball team won convincingly against cross town rival Olentangy Orange on Friday.  Solid pitching from Ryan L. and Greg H., plus diving catches by Bailey C. helped sent the Blazers packing.  Come support the team tonight as they continue to push to the top in the battle of the the Olentangy teams.

This past Saturday the Shanahan boys track team participated in the Big Walnut Invitational. The boys placed 10th. Scoring for the Scouts were Jacob B. – 400 meters 2nd and 100 meters 4th, Austin G. – high jump 8th, and Diyonni T. long jump – 8th.

The girls track team survived the cold, rain, sleet, snow, and wind at the 16-team Big Walnut Invitational to finish in second place on Saturday.  Kendall S. won the 800m run and placed third in the 1600m run.  Emma C. placed 2nd in the 400m and 200m dashes and 4th in the 100m dash.  Sarah B. placed 2nd in the 300m hurdles and 5th in both the 100m hurdles and 100m dash.  Emily C. placed 3rd in the long jump.  The 4x400m relay team of Madi S., Abby M., Emily C., and Kendall S. placed 5th.  The 4x100m relay team of Kelly S., Abby M., Peyton C. and Kylee D. placed 7th as did Lizzie M. in the Shot Put.  Ashley S. finished the scoring with an 8th place in the long jump.  The Scouts host Delaware Dempsey on Wednesday.

The Shanahan Boys lacrosse teams beat Berkshire last night. The A team won 8 – 3, and the B team won 7 – 2. Please wish us luck this weekend when we play Delaware and Rocky River.

If your student took Art earlier this year, please have them check the cafeteria or the Library for artwork that may need to be picked up. They should see their art teacher with any questions.
