District, Local and State Leaders Discuss Issues Impacting our Schools at the First Community Forum

On November 14, Olentangy Local Schools held its first public, community forum, State of the Schools: Building on Success. Superintendent Dr. Wade Lucas, Ed.D., Treasurer Rebecca Jenkins, and guests Representative Andrew Brenner and Delaware County Auditor George Kaitsa discussed the state of the school district and important issues impacting the district at both a local and state level. After the presentation portion of the program, a question and answer session followed, with all members of the panel answering various questions from community members. Please find the forum recorded in its entirety below, divided into four video segments.

The next community forum in the 2011-2012 Community Forum series will be held on Monday, February 6, 2012, at Olentangy Liberty High School at 7 pm.

Community Committees Making a Difference in Olentangy

One of the things that makes Olentangy such a great district is the fact that our residents are more than willing to donate their time and expertise. We have dozens of community committees, parent-teacher organizations and booster groups that do everything from giving us a business perspective on our financial data to creating special learning experiences for students.

I recently received a nice summary from the Diversity Committee on its activities and achievements, and I thought I’d share that document with you. This group of dedicated, hard-working individuals is a perfect example of the amazing of support our district receives from the community.

I’ll close by expressing my gratitude to all of you who have donated, are donating or plan to donate some of your time to our students. I know we all have trouble finding the time to fit everything in these days, and your generosity is greatly appreciated!
