Forty-five Olentangy students in grades three through eight earned a perfect score on at least one section of the spring 2009 Ohio Achievement Tests (OAT). Three students earned perfect scores on two sections of the test, bringing Olentangy’s total number of perfect scores to 48. This is a district record and a 20 percent increase in perfect scores from 2008.
The tests are a state-standards based assessment for students in grades three through eight. Reading and mathematics are included in all grade levels while other subjects such as writing, science and social studies are included only at certain grade levels. For instance, writing is included in grades four and seven, but not in grades three, five, six or eight. The OAT account for 18 of the 30 standards included in the Ohio Department of Education’s local report card that is released each year in August.
