Recently a great deal of attention both around the world and in our state has focused on H1N1 or more commonly known as Swine Influenza. While no suspected, probable or confirmed cases of this disease have been found in Olentangy Local Schools at this time, I want to assure parents that the district is aware of this situation and is doing everything we can to help keep Olentangy students healthy. Registration for the 2009-10 school year for all new students grades kindergarten through 12 begins today. Simply contact the New Student Welcome Center (NSWC) at (740) 657-4030 or (740) 657-4033 to obtain a Personal Identification Number (PIN). Then go online to www.olentangy.k12.oh.us/district/nswc/index.html to complete the online registration process.

Recently, the Ohio House of Representatives leaders released their version of Ohio’s biennium budget. At first glance, the budget appears to be a windfall for Olentangy Local Schools by providing a 15 percent increase the first year and a 13 percent increase the second year in state aid. However, the restrictions associated with this money only impact a small percentage of the district’s students and does nothing to help the growing general population. [Read more…]

The Olentangy Local School District is seeking translators in Swedish and Luganda. These translators will assist limited english proficient (LEP) students on the Ohio Achievement Test. Applicants also should be fluent English speakers. The translator will receive compensation for services and will be considered an independent contractor used on an as-needed basis during the week of April 20.
