During the Tuesday, February 10 regular Board of Education meeting, Olentangy Treasurer Rebecca Jenkins commented on Governor Ted Strickland’s education and budget proposals. “You may have seen through recent media reports that Olentangy Local Schools will receive the maximum increase in state aid over the next two years under the Governor’s plan,” said Jenkins. “However this proposal is completely different than the current school funding system. This plan may end up costing the district more money and reduce anticipated revenue in future years. Currently the educational plan is just a proposal and there are a lot of questions to be answered before anything is finalized and we know for sure what changes are headed our way. We must allow the legislative process to take place before we make any decisions. However I can tell you that Olentangy’s commitment to strong academic and financial standards will not change.”
