Olentangy Local Schools invites all community members to come celebrate the opening of Freedom Trail Elementary School (FTES) on August 23 at 2:00 p.m.
FTES is the district’s 13th elementary school and was built with funds from the $89.89 million bond package that was approved by voters on March 4, 2008. Other components of that bond issue include the construction of the Berkshire Bus Compound, which opened in February 2009; Cheshire Elementary School, that will open in 2010-11; Olentangy Berkshire Middle School, that will open in 2011-12; and, elementary school #15, for which an opening date has not yet been determined. The bond issue also provided funds for improvements at other facilities, technology, buses, textbooks and the expansion and renovation of Olentangy High School, that will be completed in December of 2009. Like all of Olentangy’s school building projects, the construction of FTES was completed on time and within budget.
FTES is located at 6743 Bale-Kenyon Road in Lewis Center and will be open from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. for community visitors to preview this new facility.
