The Olentangy Education Foundation would like to invite the community to golf in the 9th Annual Golf Outing set for September 22 at The Lakes Golf and Country Club. This event’s proceeds are the basis for the funding of many annual teacher grants within the district. This school year the funded grants include:
- Improving AP Language and Composition – A Response System for use with SmartBoard technology is granted for high school English program
- Improving Math Achievement – This grant will purchase a SmartBoard and response system for use in high school math
- Phenomenal Formative Assessment Function – High School math program to purchase a Smartboard and Response System
- Focus on Ohio Standards – The purchase of non-fictional materials with differential instruction level in social studies and sciences for elementary students
- Technology in the Classroom: Middle School Science – The purchase of a SmartBoard with Response System for use by middle school science teachers
- Themed Literature Bags – Take home reading materials for second graders to encourage family support in reading
- Engaging Reluctant and Low Achieving Readers – The purchase of “play-away” devices to encourage 4th grade readers to improve reading skills
- Interactive SmartBoard – Purchase of a SmartBoard for high school math: algebra, Calculus and Statistics
- Convergence Journalism – Purchase of equipment to improve high school videography skills and production.
More than $22,000 was committed to these various programs. Along with grants, the Foundation typically funds 2 college scholarships annually to deserving seniors. For the Golf Outing, corporate sponsors, as well as hole sponsors and live auction donations are welcomed.
