Gains 1,060 Students in One Year
For the seventh consecutive year, Olentangy Local Schools is Ohio’s fastest growing school district. According to the Ohio Department of Education (ODE), Olentangy Local Schools gained 1,060 students (8.15 percent) between the 2007-08 and the 2008-09 school years. Columbus City Schools is the second fastest growing school district for this same time period gaining 315 students.
“Olentangy Local Schools has a history of high academic performance, strong fiscal management and significant student enrollment growth,” said Superintendent Wade Lucas, Ed.D. “What makes Olentangy special is that despite this growth, we are still able to successfully move forward with our mission to facilitate maximum learning for every student.”
This latest growth puts Olentangy Local Schools as the 11th largest district in the state with 14,073 students during the 2008-09 school year. During the 2007-08 school year, Olentangy was the 13th largest district, but past Parma City Schools in Cuyahoga County and Dublin City Schools in Franklin County during the 2008-09 school year.
