The Essex School was founded in 1976 with the purpose of challenging high-achieving students to prepare for leadership roles in their communities and future careers. This will be Otterbein University’s first year as host of the program, which is being directed by Patricia Farrenkopf, Director of Gifted Services for Olentangy Local Schools, and Suzanne Palmer, Gifted Education Coordinator for Westerville City Schools. Workshops for the week will focus on topics including visual communication and design, printmaking and drawing, environmental chemistry, poverty and brownfields. Students will also take part in a book study, team-building exercises and a university fair.
