On August 10, Olentangy Local Schools will open Olentangy Orange High School (OOHS) with festivities for the entire community. OOHS is the district’s third high school and is the second building of the $77 million bond package that was approved by voters on November 8, 2005. Other components of that bond issue include the construction of Johnnycake Corners Elementary School (opened 2007-08), improvements to the Shanahan facility that were completed during the 2007-08 school year, improvements at other facilities, buses and textbooks. Like all of Olentangy’s school building projects, the construction of the school was completed on time and within budget.

The Grand Opening Celebration will begin with a parade at 2:30 p.m. Students and staff members from OOHS will start at Olentangy Orange Middle School and travel to OOHS through an access road between the two schools. The parade will end at the front entrance of OOHS where the Ribbon Cutting ceremony will begin at 3:00 p.m. The Olentangy Athletic Boosters is hosting a Kick-off Event at 4:00 p.m. including a dinner and silent auction. Tickets are available at the door or residents may pre-purchase them by going online to www.olentangy.k12.oh.us/buildings/oohs/grandopening.html for more information. The school will open immediately after the Ribbon Cutting ceremony for all community members to preview this new facility.
