Olentangy Local Schools is once again asking for community input regarding decisions for one of the district’s new schools. During the 2011-12 school year, the district is scheduled to open its fifth middle school, Olentangy Berkshire Middle School (OBMS). While the name and mascot (Sentinels) were already selected based on previous community participation, the district is currently seeking input regarding the color selection for the school.
“I believe that the schools belong to the community,” said Olentangy Superintendent Wade Lucas, Ed.D. “As such community members should be involved in these types of important decisions.”
Residents may submit suggestions in multiple ways including:
- completing a paper form/flyer that is available online at www.olentangy.k12.oh.us/pdf/OBMS-ColorSelectionFlyer.pdf and then mailing it to the district’s Administrative Offices;
- emailing their suggestion to the Olentangy Webmaster at olswebmaster@olentangy.k12.oh.us; or,
- calling (740) 657-5080 and leaving their suggestion message on the dedicated voicemail line.
All entries must be received by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, January 15. Lucas is expected to make a recommendation to the Olentangy Board of Education later this month. Community members are asked to provide any applicable historical research or other descriptive information when submitting a color suggestion.
