Students in Ms. Lawrence’s first-grade class at Alum Creek Elementary School (ACES) demonstrated their out-loud reading skills with family members during a Readers’ Theater event on March 11. The students shared their knowledge of the folk tale genre, read aloud four different folk tales and then concluded by performing a musical version of the folk tales. This event supported several indicators in the elementary language arts curriculum including being able to read aloud with changes in emphasis, voice, timing and expression that show recognition of punctuation and understanding of meaning.
- Students discuss the characteristics of folk tales.
- Students read The Little Red Hen.
- Students read The Little Yellow chicken.
- Students read The Three Little Pigs.
- Students read Goldilocks and the Three Bears.
