The third annual Jump Rope for Heart event at Scioto Ridge Elementary School (SRES) raised $18,430 for the American Heart Association. All students participated in heart-healthy activities related to jumping rope during physical education classes February 14 through 18. Many students also chose to engage in the optional fundraising portion of the program. The top fundraising class in the school was Ann Christopher’s fourth-grade class with a total of $8,437. Congratulations to the school’s top individual fundraiser, a fourth-grade student who raised $6,592 herself. In honor of her achievements, she and her family were invited to attend a recent meeting of the American Heart Association’s Board of Directors. During that meeting they were treated to a tour of the Center for Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Research at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, which directly benefits from the funds raised by the SRES students through grants from the American Heart Association.
