Community/Staff Group and Board to Conduct Further Interviews

Two of the original five candidates in the search for Olentangy Local Schools’ next superintendent have been selected to continue in the process. Dr. Todd Hoadley of Olmsted Falls City Schools in Olmsted Falls, Ohio and Scot Prebles of Granville Exempted Village Schools in Granville, Ohio will meet with the full board as well as a small group of community and staff representatives on June 5 for the next step in the search process.

Each candidate will participate in a 45-minute community dialogue with a mixed group of community and staff members. This small group of individuals includes representatives from the district’s Finance and Audit Committee, Development Committee, Olentangy For Kids political action group, Olentangy Teachers Association, Olentangy Education Foundation and the administration. The board has invited these individuals to become part of this process to provide input, knowing that the final decision related to selection of a candidate remains with the board.

“The community and staff sessions will provide an opportunity for interaction between the two candidates, community residents and staff members so that all sides may discuss their accomplishments and what the candidates bring to the Olentangy community”, said Dr. Ralph Johnson, lead search consultant and ESCFC Center for Leadership director. “This small group meeting will provide for important community and staff interaction in a structured setting that will allow for specific input from a cross section of stakeholders within the district.”

In addition, each candidate will individually meet with members of press for approximately 15 minutes. This will allow the candidates to share information about themselves with the media.

“It was a difficult decision to narrow the list to two candidates,” said Board of Education Vice President Dimon McFerson. “The board is very excited about the additional community and staff input we will receive from the candidate dialog sessions. These sessions will provide greater depth and understanding in selecting a highly qualified candidate to lead this great school district.”

The meeting schedule for both candidates is as follows:

Scot Prebles:
• 5:00 p.m. – meet with members of the press;
• 5:15 p.m. – meet with the community and staff member group; and,
• 6:00 p.m. – meet with the Board of Education.

Dr. Todd Hoadley:
• 6:00 p.m. – meet with members of the press;
• 6:15 p.m. – meet with the community and staff member group; and,
• 7:00 p.m. – meet with the Board of Education.

The district intends to take action to employ the next superintendent in mid June with a starting date of early August.
