The Tyler Run Parent Teacher Organization (TRPTO) accepted the 2010 National Parent Group of the Year award from PTO Today magazine today before the school’s annual Walk-A-Thon.
The TRPTO was selected out of a pool of more than 500 parent groups across the country because of its “creative approaches to events, its strong parent involvement and its service to others.”
After the award presentation, students set off on the one-mile Walk-A-Thon, a supervised walk through the neighborhood that serves as a fundraiser and reinforces the importance of making healthy choices and staying physically fit. The fun will continue tonight when the TRPTO presents its annual Fall Festival from 5 until 8 p.m.
