The Olentangy Board of Education voted on December 8 during their regular meeting to hire Justin Syroka, assistant principal at Wyandot Run Elementary School (WRES), as the principal of Cheshire Elementary School (CES), which will open for the 2010-11 school year.
“Justin is an energetic and talented educational leader,” said Superintendent Wade Lucas, Ed.D. “We have been extremely impressed with his work with students, teachers and community members at Wyandot Run. I am confident he will build a cohesive, supportive and successful learning environment for the students of Cheshire Elementary School.”
Syroka became the assistant principal at WRES in July 2008 after serving as a fourth-grade teacher at Oak Creek Elementary School (OCES) for two years. Prior to his time at Olentangy, Syroka taught fifth grade in the Perrysburg Exempted Village School District, sixth grade and third grade in the Anthony Wayne Local School District, second grade in the Pettisville Local School District and served as a permanent building substitute teacher in the Maumee City School District. Syroka earned a Master of Education degree in educational administration and leadership from Ashland University in 2008 and a Bachelor of Science in education from the University of Toledo in 1998.
