Orange News – March 12

8th Grade Band Concert
The Orange Middle School 8th grade band will perform in a joint concert with the Shanahan Middle School 8th grade band and the Westerville concert band on Monday, March 15. The performance begins at 7:00 p.m. and should last approximately one hour. The 8th grade band students should report to the band room of Orange High School at 6:30 p.m. Concert attire is blue music polo shirt, black dress pants and black (or dark) dress shoes. Students need to remember to take their music and instrument home at the end of the school day so they will have it for the performance. (Bari saxes, tubas and percussion should speak to Mrs. Cabral Hever for individual instruction.) OOHS Cheerleading
All 8th grade students interested in trying out for the 2010/2011 high school cheerleading squad must come to the student/parent meeting on Monday, March 15 at 7:00 p.m. in the OOHS library.

Orange Middle School PTO Saturday Ice Skating Party on Saturday 3/13: Date has Changed!
Have a COOL time at the next PTO ice skating party! Students and families are invited to join their friends at Chiller North for skating and fun from 7:30 – 9:15 p.m. on Saturday, March 13. Admission is just $7.00 per person and includes skate rental! $1 of each admission will go towards the purchase of SMARTBoards by the PTO.

The summer EXPO is March 16th from 5:30-8:00 at OOMS. We are in need of parent volunteers to make this a success. This is a large money maker for the PTO as well as the Washington, D.C. Robotics Club
Robotics Club has been rescheduled to Thursday, March 4.

Drama Club Performance
The Orange Middle School Drama Club presents Death to the Drama Club this Friday and Saturday, March 5 and 6 at 7:00 p.m. in the cafe. Tickets are $3 for students/kids and $5 for adults.

Lost and Found Items
Lost and found items will be in the atrium this week, March 2 – March 5. Please stop and take a look to see if you or your child have misplaced any items. All remaining items will be donated this Friday, March 5.

6th, 7th and Jazz Band Concert
The 6th, 7th and Jazz Bands have been working hard to prepare for our concert on March 7! It’s hard to believe that it is right around the corner. The concert will take place at Orange High School on Sunday, March 7, 2010. Students should arrive by 6:30 p.m. and report to the band room. The performance begins at 7:00 p.m. The concert will last approximately 1 hour. We will wear our concert attire of blue Orange M.S. Music polo shirt, black pants or long black skirt, dark dress shoes.

OOHS Golf
Eighth grade girls interested in playing golf next fall should attend a meeting at the high school on Thursday, March 4 in Coach Phillips’ room, 2222, at 3:40 p.m. You will receive fund-raising materials and summer dates that you need to know. If you cannot make it but are still interested, contact Coach Phillips at the high school or via e-mail.

OOMS PTO Book Fair
The Book Fair runs through Thursday March 4. We will be open from 7:45 a.m. – 3:15 p.m. with the except of conference nights, which we will stay open until 7:45 p.m. Penny Wars will take place during lunch from from Wednesday, February 24th through Wednesday, March 3rd. Money from the Penny Wars will be used to give more students a chance to participate in the Book Fair and add books to the school library. The winning team will get to select their amount of contribution in books for their classroom. Scholastic will match the contributions and help out another organization that can use more books.
