Code of Conduct / Discipline

Appeal

Students should be afforded the right to explain the situation that has possible disciplinary consequences and the opportunity to know what the consequences may be. Should you not agree with a disciplinary action, please start the appeal process where it originated (i.e., if a teacher assigns a detention you do not agree with, discuss it with the teacher. If the principal recommends expulsion, discuss it with the principal.) The "chain of command" to appeal (in general): teacher, assistant principal, principal, executive director of elementary learning, superintendent and, finally, the Board of Education.
